Dakota Student Art Exhibition

The John Sieh Legacy

High school and middle school students from North and South Dakota are invited to exhibit their artwork, learn new art techniques, and spend time with professional artists. This event is held over two days with judging sessions and art workshops.

Beginning in 1996, as the goal of highlighting student artists by John Sieh, this event has provided constructive and supportive feedback to young artists while also letting them experience art workshops with professional artists. Over 150 students from nearly 20 schools participate each year. One student art piece will be awarded “Best in Show” and judges choice awards will be given in six different media categories. One school from each state will be awarded the “Best Team” trophy. Given each year, the Lora Schaunaman “Rising Star” award will be given to a student who exhibits budding potential to be a great artist in the future.

Open gallery hours for the student artwork will be Wed. April 19, 4-8pm at the ARCC in the 2nd floor Library Auditorium.
