Scholarship Program in its Second Year
[ABERDEEN, SD, May 2024] — The Dacotah Prairie Museum Foundation (DPMF) has announced the recipients for its annual scholarship. The scholarships are open to all Brown County, S.D. students (either residents of the county or attend a school/homeschool within the county) who plan to attend any technical, 2-year or 4-year accredited post-secondary school in South Dakota.
Recipients were decided by the Dacotah Prairie Museum Foundation Scholarship Committee comprised of museum board members and museum staff. Students answered essay questions regarding community involvement, connection to Brown County, and future plans. Each recipient will be awarded $1,000 for the 2024-25 school year. There were 13 applicants with these 8 selected:
- Anna Bisbee, Columbia, SD, Groton High School, attending Northern State University
- Zachary Bowser, Aberdeen, SD, homeschooled, attending South Dakota School of Mines & Technology
- Anna Johnson, Aberdeen, SD, Aberdeen Central High School, attending South Dakota State University
- Lindsey Kendall, Aberdeen, SD, Aberdeen Central High School, attending Northern State University
- Faith Marie Opdahl, Aberdeen, SD, Aberdeen Christian High School, attending Northern State University
- Ty Pinkman, Aberdeen, SD, Aberdeen Central High School, attending Northern State University
- Ava Rott, Aberdeen, SD, Aberdeen Central High School, attending University of South Dakota
- Ayrlie Waldo, Aberdeen, SD, Aberdeen Central High School, attending South Dakota State University
The Dacotah Prairie Museum celebrates over 50 years as Brown County’s premier history museum. The Museum is housed in the historic Northwestern Bank building built in 1889 on Aberdeen’s Main Street. Gallery & Museum Store Hours: Tues.-Fri. 10am-5pm and Sat. 10am-4pm. Closed Sundays, Mondays and major holidays. Free admission, donations appreciated.
